อาจารย์ ดร.บุญมี พวงเพชร

Education Background

Boonmee Poungpet graduated with a bachelor’s degree in religious studies (second class honors) from Mahidol University in 2001.

He graduated with a Master of Arts in Information Technology. Then, he continued his studies in the USA and obtained Master of Arts in Religious Studies at University of the West in 2018.

Currently, he is a PhD candidate in Religious Studies at University of the West, USA.

Area of Expertises

Early Buddhism Conference presentations: Boonmee Poungpet participated in many international conferences on Buddhist Studies in different countries, such as Finland, Spain, Japan, India, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Burma etc. Some of presentations are: 1) Buddhist Based Coaching: Case Study CP All Thailand. Singapore, 2014. 2) Global Recovery by Volunteers: A Cast Study from Volunteer Group of the College of Religious Studies, Mahidol University. In The 7th International Buddhist Conference on the United Nations Day of Vesak Celebrations (May 23-25, 2010), Thailand. 3) Thai Buddhist Monks’ Role in Dealing with Consumerism in Thai Society. Oral presentation at International conference on “Buddhism and Globalization” at Delhi University, India 2010. 4) Engaged Buddhism and Mahidol Monks. Oral presentation at the conference of The Association of Theravada Buddhist University at SIBA, Sagaing city, Burma (3-11 March 2009).

– Cross-Cultural Differences in a Global: ‘Survey of World Views’. Co-research with University of Oregon, USA. Published in Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology (2014).

– Buddhist Based Coaching. Journal Religion and Culture, year 6 vol. 1, The College of Religious Studies, Mahidol University, Thailand.

– The Study of the Effect of Satipatthāna Meditation Practice by the Brain Signal Scientific Analysis (2015). It was a team research and funded by National Research Council of Thailand.

– Buddhist Perspective on Cannabis: based on the Pāli Canon. 2021.

– I wrote more than 30 books (Thai Language) to promote Buddhism. Some of them were bestsellers in Thailand, for example, The Power of Love and Happy Life.

A brief biography

He has taught Buddhist Studies for more than 10 years at the university level. He was invited to give lectures on Buddhism in different institutes, such as Buddhism for nursing at the Kuakarun College of Nursing, Buddhism for the Guiding Tour Program at Mahidol, Buddhist-based Coaching in performance leadership at CP ALL company, Thailand. In addition, he has served as a host for WBTV (World Buddhist Television) and lectured for the “Abbot Training” Program of the National Buddhism Organization of Thailand.
