วันที่ 27 พฤษภาคม 2569 วิทยาลัยศาสนศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ร่วมกับมูลนิธิไทย (Thailand Foundation) จัดการประชุมเชิงปฏิบัติการระดับนานาชาติด้านการวิจัยสหวิทยาการ ครั้งที่ 3 (International Workshop on Interdisciplinary Research: IWIR 3) ในรูปแบบ Hybrid ณ ห้องประชุม 1 ศูนย์สัตว์ทดลองแห่งชาติ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล และถ่ายทอดสดผ่านระบบ Webex
การประชุมครั้งนี้ได้รับเกียรติจาก ศ.นพ.ม.ล.ชาครีย์ กิติยากร รองอธิการบดีฝ่ายวิจัย มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล เป็นประธานในพิธีเปิดและกล่าวปาฐกถาพิเศษ โดยเน้นย้ำบทบาทของการวิจัยสหวิทยาการในการเชื่อมโยงศาสนา สังคม และองค์ความรู้จากหลากหลายศาสตร์ เพื่อสร้างผลกระทบเชิงบวกและการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน
ภายในงานมีการแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้จากนักวิชาการทั้งในและต่างประเทศ ผ่านประเด็นร่วมสมัยที่หลากหลาย อาทิ
-ผลกระทบอีกด้านของการฝึกสมาธิ
โดย Assist. Prof. Dr. Silvie Kotherova จาก Palacky University Olomouc
-ความเชื่อเรื่องผี เมือง และภูมิทัศน์ทางวัฒนธรรมในกรุงเทพฯ
โดย Assist. Prof. Paul McBain จากมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์
-วัดพุทธในฐานะ “โรงพยาบาล” ในเอเชียก่อนยุคสมัยใหม่
โดย Dr. Francesco Bianchini จากมหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล
-มุมมองด้านนโยบายสาธารณะและผลกระทบต่อสังคมร่วมสมัย
โดย ผศ.ดร.เข็มทอง ต้นสกุลรุ่งเรือง จากจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย

Mahidol University’s College of Religious Studies Hosts the International Workshop IWIR 3 to Build Interdisciplinary Research Networks for Social Impact.
On May 27, 2026, the College of Religious Studies, Mahidol University, in collaboration with the Thailand Foundation, organized the 3rd International Workshop on Interdisciplinary Research (IWIR 3). The event was held in a hybrid format, taking place on-site at Room 1, National Laboratory Animal Center, Mahidol University, and broadcast live via Webex.
The workshop was honored by Prof. Chagriya Kitiyakara, Vice President for Research at Mahidol University, who served as the Chairperson for the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech. He emphasized the role of interdisciplinary research in bridging religion, society, and diverse fields of knowledge to create positive social impact and sustainable development.
The event featured insightful knowledge exchanges from local and international scholars on a variety of contemporary issues, including:
-The Addverse effects of meditation By Assist. Prof. Dr. Silvie Kotherova from Palacky University Olomouc
-Silent Passenger In a Black Dress: Ghost radio and the haunted maps of Bangkok (Exploring urban ghost beliefs and cultural landscapes in Bangkok) By Assist. Prof. Paul McBain from Thammasat University
-Buddhist Monasteries as “Hospitals” in premodern Asia By Dr. Francesco Bianchini from Mahidol University
-Perspectives on public policy and contemporary social impact By Assist. Prof. Kemthong Tonsakulrungruang from Chulalongkorn University
In addition, the workshop facilitated discussions on key thematic areas:
-Religion, Public Policy, and Social Impact Exploring the role of religion in shaping public policy, law, and contemporary ethical issues.
-Religion, Pluralism, and Regional Cooperation in Asia Building research collaborations in multicultural contexts and promoting Asia's cultural Soft Power.
IWIR 3 reflects the vital role of the College of Religious Studies, Mahidol University, as a platform for integrating knowledge across disciplines. The event aims to build academic collaborative networks and drive research that creates meaningful social impact at both national and international levels.
