เมื่อวันที่ 18 มีนาคม 2569 Dr. Sanjoy Barua Chowdhury อาจารย์ประจำวิทยาลัยศาสนศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ได้รับเชิญไปบรรยายพิเศษในหัวข้อ “ธรรมะแห่งพังคภูมิ: สำรวจการสืบทอดพระพุทธศาสนาในบังกลาเทศ” (Bongabhūmi’s Dharma: Exploring Buddhist Transmission in Bangladesh) ณ University of the West รัฐแคลิฟอร์เนีย ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา
ประเด็นสำคัญจากการบรรยาย ในการบรรยายครั้งนี้ Dr. Sanjoy Barua Chowdhury ได้วิเคราะห์กระบวนการทางประวัติศาสตร์ในการสืบทอด การรักษา และการตีความหลักพุทธธรรมใหม่ในภูมิภาคเบงกอล โดยเน้นไปที่บริบททางศาสนาและวัฒนธรรมของประเทศบังกลาเทศในปัจจุบันเป็นสำคัญ
นอกจากนี้ยังได้นำเสนอประเด็นที่น่าสนใจ ดังนี้:
เส้นทางประวัติศาสตร์: สำรวจวิถีชีวิตและการดำรงอยู่ของชุมชนชาวพุทธในภูมิภาคนี้ผ่านกาลเวลา
เครือข่ายข้ามภูมิภาค: แสดงให้เห็นถึงความเชื่อมโยงของเครือข่ายพุทธศาสนิกชนที่ครอบคลุมทั้งเอเชียใต้และเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้
การบรรยายในครั้งนี้ไม่เพียงแต่ช่วยส่งเสริมการแลกเปลี่ยนทางวิชาการที่มีคุณค่า แต่ยังสร้างความเข้าใจที่ลึกซึ้งยิ่งขึ้นเกี่ยวกับ ประวัติศาสตร์การเผยแผ่พระพุทธศาสนาในแถบเบงกอล ให้แก่คณาจารย์ นักศึกษา และกลุ่มชุมชนชาวเบงกอลในลอสแอนเจลิสที่เข้าร่วมรับฟัง
CRS Lecturer Invited to Deliver Special Lecture at University of the West, USA
On March 18, 2026, Dr. Sanjoy Barua Chowdhury, Lecturer at the College of Religious Studies, Mahidol University, Thailand, delivered a lecture titled “Bongabhūmi’s Dharma: Exploring Buddhist Transmission in Bangladesh” at the University of the West, California, USA.
In this lecture, Dr. Chowdhury examined the historical processes through which Buddhist traditions have been transmitted, preserved, and rearticulated across the Bengal region, with particular attention to the religious and cultural landscape of present-day Bangladesh. The presentation further highlighted the historical trajectories of Buddhist communities and their connections within broader transregional Buddhist networks spanning South and Southeast Asia.
The lecture facilitated meaningful academic exchange and contributed to a deeper understanding of the historiography of Buddhist transmission in the Bengal region among UWEST faculty, students, and participants from the Los Angeles Bengali community.
