มื่อวันที่ 18 พฤษภาคม 2569 Dr. Sanjoy Barua Chowdhury อาจารย์ประจำวิทยาลัยศาสนศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ประเทศไทย เป็นวิทยากรรับเชิญบรรยายเรื่อง “ความต่อเนื่อง การเปลี่ยนแปลง และอนาคตของพระพุทธศาสนาในบังกลาเทศ” ณ มหาวิทยาลัยศากยพุทธเจ้า (SBU) รัฐแคลิฟอร์เนีย สหรัฐอเมริกา
เนื่องในโอกาสวันวิสาขบูชาครบรอบ 2650 ปีแห่งการตรัสรู้ของพระพุทธเจ้า มหาวิทยาลัยศากยพุทธเจ้า ร่วมกับสมาคมโพธิภพ (BRS) จัดการสวดภาวนาพระไตรปิฎกนานาชาติ และจัดชุดการบรรยายทางวิชาการสำหรับทั้งนักวิชาการและพุทธศาสนิกชนในสหรัฐอเมริกา การบรรยายนี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของชุดการบรรยายอันทรงเกียรติ

On May 18, 2026, Dr. Sanjoy Barua Chowdhury, Lecturer at the College of Religious Studies, Mahidol University, Thailand, delivered a lecture titled “Continuity, Transformation, and the Future of Buddhism in Bangladesh” at Sakya Buddha University (SBU), California, USA.
As part of the Vesak Commemoration marking the 2650th Anniversary of the Buddha’s Enlightenment, Sakya Buddha University, in collaboration with the Bodhi Realm Society (BRS), organized an international recitation of the Buddhist Tripiṭaka and a series of academic lectures for both scholarly and lay Buddhist communities in the United States. Dr. Sanjoy Barua Chowdhury’s presentation was featured as part of this distinguished lecture series.
In his lecture, Dr. Sanjoy Barua Chowdhury examined the historical continuity, transformation, and contemporary development of Buddhism in Bangladesh. He explored the processes through which Buddhist traditions have been transmitted, preserved, and dynamically rearticulated across the Bengal region, with particular emphasis on the religious and cultural landscape of present-day Bangladesh. The presentation traced the historical trajectories of Buddhist communities while highlighting their enduring connections with broader transregional Buddhist networks spanning South and Southeast Asia.
By examining both continuity and change, the lecture situated Buddhism in Bangladesh within a wider historical and cultural framework, demonstrating its resilience, adaptability, and evolving significance in contemporary society. The presentation also encouraged reflection on the future prospects of Buddhist communities in Bangladesh and their role within the global Buddhist world.
