วันที่ 28 มกราคม 2569 วิทยาลัยศาสนศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล (College of Religious Studies: CRS) นำโดย ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร.ไพเราะ มากเจริญ คณบดีวิทยาลัยศาสนศึกษา พร้อมด้วย Assoc. Prof. Dr. Milos Hubina รองคณบดีฝ่ายวิจัยและวิเทศสัมพันธ์ และคณาจารย์ประจำวิทยาลัย ได้แก่ Asst. Prof. Dr. John Johnston and Dr. Sanjoy Barua Chowdhury ให้การต้อนรับพระเถระนิกายเถรวาทจากประเทศบังกลาเทศ ได้แก่ Venerable Bhikkhu U Gunavarddhana Punya และ Venerable Dr. Thirassato Bhikkhu อย่างอบอุ่น
ในโอกาสนี้ วิทยาลัยศาสนศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ได้จัดการสนทนาแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็น โดย Venerable Bhikkhu U Gunavarddhana Punya และ Venerable Dr. Thirassato Bhikkhu ได้ร่วมแบ่งปันมุมมองเชิงลึกเกี่ยวกับการปฏิบัติทางพุทธศาสนาและวัฒนธรรมพุทธในบริบทของประเทศบังกลาเทศร่วมสมัย อีกทั้งยังมีการหารือถึงความเป็นไปได้ในการสร้างความร่วมมือทางวิชาการระหว่างวิทยาลัยศาสนศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล กับวัดและชุมชนชาวพุทธในประเทศบังกลาเทศ

College of Religious Studies, Mahidol University, Welcomes Senior Theravada Monks from Bangladesh
On January 28, 2026, the College of Religious Studies (CRS), Mahidol University (MU)—led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Pairor Makcharoen, Dean of the College of Religious Studies, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Milos Hubina, Associate Dean for Research and International Relations, and CRS faculty members, Asst. Prof. Dr. John Johnston and Dr. Sanjoy Barua Chowdhury—warmly welcomed senior Bangladeshi Theravada monks, namely Venerable Bhikkhu U Gunavarddhana Punya and Venerable Dr. Thirassato Bhikkhu.
On this occasion, the CRS-MU hosted a conversation where Venerable Bhikkhu U Gunavarddhana Punya and Venerable Dr. Thirassato Bhikkhu exchanged their insightful thoughts on Buddhist practices and culture in contemporary Bangladesh. The discussion also explored potential academic collaboration between the CRS-MU and local Buddhist monasteries in Bangladesh.

This engagement reflects the College of Religious Studies’ ongoing commitment to fostering international partnerships and promoting meaningful dialogue in religious studies and the humanities.
