เมื่อวันที่ 2 เมษายน 2569 วิทยาลัยศาสนศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ร่วมกับ สำนักงานพระพุทธศาสนาแห่งชาติ จัดกิจกรรมเปิดตัวโครงการ “วัดสีเขียว (Green Temple)” ครั้งที่ 1 ณ พุทธมณฑล จ.นครปฐม โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์หลักเพื่อปลูกฝังความรู้ด้านการจัดการขยะอย่างครบวงจรให้แก่เยาวชนโครงการบวชสามเณรภาคฤดูร้อนและผู้ปกครอง กว่า 100 ท่าน
ภายในงานได้รับเกียรติจาก นายบุญเชิด กิตติธรางกูร รองผู้อำนวยการสำนักงานพระพุทธศาสนาแห่งชาติ เป็นประธานเปิดงาน นายจาตุวัฒน์ วงษ์จีน ผอ.สำนักงานพุทธมณฑล และ นายชิษณุพงศ์ แฉล้มรัมย์ ผอ.กลุ่มกิจกรรมและการเรียนรู้ กล่าวต้อนรับ โดยมี อาจารย์ ดร.บุญมี พวงเพชร หัวหน้าโครงการ พร้อมด้วยคณะผู้เชี่ยวชาญจากหลากสาขา อาทิ รศ.ดร.สมพงศ์ โอทอง, รศ.ดร.สุวิมล กาญจนสุธา และคุณญาดานุช มงคลเนตร์ ร่วมขับเคลื่อนกิจกรรม
ไฮไลท์สำคัญคือการบรรยายจาก รศ.ดร.กฤตณะ พฤกษากร ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม ที่มาถ่ายทอดเทคนิคการคัดแยกขยะ 4 ประเภท (ขยะอินทรีย์, รีไซเคิล, ทั่วไป และอันตราย) เพื่อส่งเสริมวิถีพุทธควบคู่ไปกับการรักษาสิ่งแวดล้อมอย่างยั่งยืน
โครงการนี้ยังสอดคล้องกับเป้าหมายการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน (SDGs) ได้แก่:
เป้าหมายที่ 11: เมืองและชุมชนที่ยั่งยืน (Sustainable Cities and Communities) – ส่งเสริมให้พุทธมณฑลและวัดเป็นพื้นที่สาธารณะที่สะอาด ปลอดภัย และมีการจัดการสิ่งแวดล้อมที่ดีเพื่อชุมชน
เป้าหมายที่ 12: การผลิตและการบริโภคที่รับผิดชอบ (Responsible Consumption and Production) – มุ่งเน้นการลดปริมาณขยะผ่านการคัดแยกขยะ 4 ประเภทอย่างถูกวิธี และการนำทรัพยากรกลับมาใช้ใหม่ให้เกิดประโยชน์สูงสุด
เป้าหมายที่ 17: ความร่วมมือเพื่อเป้าหมายที่ยั่งยืน (Partnerships for the Goals) – เป็นการบูรณาการความร่วมมือระหว่างภาคการศึกษา (มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล) และหน่วยงานระดับชาติ (สำนักงานพระพุทธศาสนาแห่งชาติ) เพื่อขับเคลื่อนงานด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมอย่างเป็นรูปธรรม
College of Religious Studies, Mahidol University, Partners with National Office of Buddhism to Launch “Green Temple” Project, Promoting Comprehensive Waste Management at Phutthamonthon
On April 2, 2026, the College of Religious Studies, Mahidol University, in collaboration with the National Office of Buddhism, organized the launch of the "Green Temple" Project (Phase 1) at Phutthamonthon, Nakhon Pathom. The primary objective is to instill comprehensive waste management knowledge among over 100 participants, including youth in the summer novice ordination program and their parents.
The event was honored by Mr. Booncherd Kittitharangkoon, Deputy Director of the National Office of Buddhism, who presided over the opening ceremony. Mr. Jatuwat Wongjean, Director of the Phutthamonthon Office, and Mr. Chitsanuphong Chalaemram, Director of the Activity and Learning Group, delivered the welcoming remarks. The project is led by Dr. Boonmee Puangphet, along with a multidisciplinary team of experts, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sompong O-Thong, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suwimon Kanjanasutha, and Ms. Yadanuch Mongkolnetr, to drive the initiative forward.
A key highlight was a special lecture by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Krittana Prueksakorn, an environmental expert, who shared techniques for sorting four types of waste: organic, recyclable, general, and hazardous. This session aimed to promote Buddhist principles alongside sustainable environmental conservation.
This project also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – Promoting Phutthamonthon and temples as clean, safe public spaces with effective environmental management for the community.
Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – Focusing on waste reduction through proper sorting of the four waste types and maximizing resource recovery.
Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals – Integrating collaboration between the academic sector (Mahidol University) and national agencies (National Office of Buddhism) to drive concrete environmental action.
